Ballet Leotards - Find A Leotard That Fits For You
First of all let’s define what a leotard is. The Webster’s dictionary defines a leotard as a close-fitting one piece garment worn especially by dancers, acrobats and aerialists. This is a very simple definition but it speaks wonders. You may ask; why does it speak wonders? Well, in my site this definition speaks wonders by who wear a leotard, specifically, ballet leotards. In all the so mentioned fields they all tell a story with their bodies. So, it is not wonder that a leotard would be a close-fitting one piece garment. But also, all of the fields take high energy. And with a high energy sport no one wants a garment that would in any way inhibit the wearer from accomplishing the goals set forth in the sport. That said; let’s get back to ballet leotards. I don’t think that anyone would argue that ballet is a beautiful form of dance. But ballerinas rely on costumes (leotards) that allow them to relate emotion through their body. If that is the case I would venture to say that they would not want ballet leotards that ride up or will not stretch in the right manners. So my question now would be; what would a ballet dancer need to look for when trying to fit a pair of ballet leotards?
1. Of course, the first thing to look for is size. This is very basic as most would probably find it easy to find a leotard in their size. But this is not the end of the search. Just because you have found the size there may still be issues in the way the leotard was cut.
2. The cut - Check out how the leotards are cut around the waist. Not all leotards are the same. Different manufacturers cut their garments different.
3. Does the elastic cut into your skin. If the elastic is cutting into your skin in any way the leotard may be either too small or the brand manufacture is not for you body type. You may want to consider looking at something else.
4. Does the backend ride up? This is a common problem with most leotards and has been a complaint for years. Once again, I would say either try another size or shop another manufacturer.
A last word, remember Ballet Leotard should fit like a swimming costume. This is so the instructor or audience can see what group of muscles is working at all times. This is part of the art, so expect it.
