There is a simple formula for playing on your prospect’s desire to be selfish. The closest comparison that comes to mind is fishing. To be successfully in catching a fish you need a couple things: A fishing pole, fishing line, and some form of bait.
In marketing, a fishing pole serves message. The line serves as the medium of sending the message, and the bait is the value of your offer.
When fishing you should always select the bait that is the most attractive to fish. The same is true when you market. You would not use a piece of wood if you are fishing.
